Does Afterpay Perform A Credit Check?

No, Afterpay does not do credit checks, and they don't report information to credit bureaus or agencies. As Afterpay doesn’t do credit checks or report late payments, using Afterpay cannot affect your credit score. When you join Afterpay you start with low spending limits that only increase with responsible repayment behaviour.

How Do I Make Payments?

To make it easy for you to stick to your payment plan, Afterpay provides automatic payments.

This means Afterpay takes your next instalment from your preferred card on the due date. You will always be sent reminders before an instalment is due, so you just need to make sure that there is enough money in your account for that instalment.

If an automatic payment fails, Afterpay will try and collect your instalment from any other cards you may have on your account. If they still can't collect, or you don't have any other cards saved to your account, they'll let you know straight away and give you until 11pm the following day to make the payment.

If your payment is still outstanding, then you'll be charged a late fee. If you're worried you won't be able to make a payment, call Afterpay to discuss your options. You can find their contact details here .

You can always make payments manually - on time or early - by clicking on the PAY NOW button in your account online or in the app.

When Will My Next Payment Be Due?

When you make a purchase through Afterpay, unless otherwise advised, you will be required to make your first repayment (25% of the price) upfront, and the remainder every fortnight.

Can I Use A Bank Account For Repayments?

Afterpay cannot accept payments by BPAY, bank transfer or Pre-Paid cards.

I Missed A Payment, What Should I Do?

If your payment is already past-due, please note that late payments - even those made within the grace period before a late fee may be charged - will affect your future spending limits. Your account will also be suspended until all late payments are paid. After the previously mentioned grace period, you may also be charged a late fee.
