About Mr Hamish Anthony Shilton

I am a specialist surgeon in Upper Gastrointestinal (Stomach and Oesophagus) and Bariatric (Weight loss) surgery. I also perform a wide range of general surgery procedures. In particular, I perform operations for abdominal wall hernias and hiatus hernias, reflux disease, gallbladder issues, cancer and non cancerous conditions involving the stomach and oesophagus. Most procedures are performed with keyhole surgery. I also perform robotic operations at Cabrini Malvern. For obesity, I consult at Complete Weight Loss Solutions and perform sleeve gastrectomy and Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB). I completed two years of sub-specialty upper gastrointestinal surgery training through the ANZGOSA program in Auckland, New Zealand and Norwich, UK, working in high volume bariatric and oesophageal cancer units. I work publicly at Monash Health, and privately at Cabrini Malvern.

I specialise in surgery on the Oesophagus (gullet) and Stomach. I also perform common procedures on other areas in the abdomen, including for gallbladder issues, hernias and endoscopy (scopes through the mouth or colon). Most of the surgery I perform is laparoscopic (keyhole).
