SmartClinics Family Medical Centre in Alderley was previously called Alderley Clinic, which has been looking after the health of local residents in Alderley for over 60 years. We are proud to be part of the community, and honoured that we still have patients who first came to see us when they were children who now have families of their own. Our GP’s provide a broad range of health services for patients of all ages including aaccident & emergency treatment, Child & adolescent health, Elderly Care, Family counselling, Immunisations, Women’s & Men’s health, and Minor surgical procedures. New patients are very welcome.


  • Dr Sandra Bayley

    Doctor at SmartClinics Alderley Family Medical Centre

    Dr Sandra Bayley has been working in General Practice for over 30 years. After completing her medical degree in Newcastle in 1984 she worked as a GP in both Newcastle and Brisbane before joining the team at Alderley Clinic. Dr Bayley has spent the last 20 years addressing the health needs of the local Alderley community and has a special interest in mental health and acupuncture. She sees a number of patients who self refer through Beyond Blue and she encourages a willingness to discuss the big issues in life, such as death, climate change, grief and suicide. Nothing is so terrible that it can’t be discussed with your doctor. When she is not practising medicine, Dr Bayley is an environmentalist. She holds concerns about climate change and the impacts it is already having on the planet, including human health.

    Dr Mara Christa has worked as a GP at The Alderley Clinic since 1997. She did her medical training in Brisbane at the University of Queensland, and graduated in 1991. She then trained in hospitals in Cairns, the UK and at the Royal Brisbane. She entered General Practice in 1994 and became a Fellow of the Australian College of General Practitioners in 1997. Dr Christa has a special interest in Women’s Health. She is married with two children.

  • Dr Rhys Birmingham

    Doctor at SmartClinics Alderley Family Medical Centre

    Rhys is a graduate of the University of Queensland, initially obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree before commencing his studies in medicine. He completed the bulk of his training at the Royal Brisbane & Women?’s Hospital, with time also spent at Greenslopes Private Hospital and the Royal Children?’s Hospital. Prior to becoming a doctor Rhys worked in a number of fields including nursing, science and mental health, and upon graduation was immediately drawn to General Practice due to the long term and comprehensive relationships it allows doctors and patients to form with each other. Rhys keeps a broad focus in general practice but particularly enjoys adult and preventative medicine. When not at work, Rhys can be identified by his tuneless electric guitar playing, sending people and animals alike scurrying in all directions.

  • Dr Colin Case

    Dr Colin Case was born in Dublin, Ireland and grew up on the Sunshine Coast. He initially obtained a Bachelor of Science (Hons) at the University of Sydney before commencing his studies in medicine at the University of Queensland. He Completed the bulk of this junior doctor work at the Royal Brisbane & Women;s Hospital, with time also spent at Greenslopes Private Hospital and the Royal Children’s Hospital. Colin has a particular interest in all aspects of musculoskeletal medicine including shoulder, lower back and hip injuries. He also has an interest in endocrinology, having completed a year of research into the complications of diabetes.

  • Dr Margaret Pollard

    Doctor at SmartClinics Alderley Family Medical Centre

    Dr Pollard completed her medical degree in 2011 at the University of Queensland, following studies in science, personnel management and engineering management. She then underwent training at The Royal Brisbane & Women’s Hospital gaining experience in General Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Mental Health, Urology, Geriatric Medicine, Rural General Practice (Goondiwindi) and Rehabilitation Medicine. She also has six months Emergency Medicine experience at The Prince Charles Hospital, including Paediatrics. Margaret is interested in all aspects of General Practice and her special interests include Children’s Health, Family Care and Preventative Medicine.

  • Dr Graham Morgan

    Doctor at SmartClinics Alderley Family Medical Centre

    Dr Graham Morgan was born in Newcastle and lived his early years in Newcastle, Wollongong & Sydney. He studied medicine at University of NSW, graduating in early 1977 and then worked for three years in various roles at the Prince of Wales/Prince Henry group of hospitals. In 1980, Dr Morgan travelled to Zimbabwe where he worked as a registrar in obstetrics at Harare Hospital for one year. In that time he delivered in excess of 1,000 babies. After returning to Australia he worked in locum positions throughout NSW, QLD and New Zealand and then at General Practices in Jamboree Heights and Brassall. He has been a Senior Examiner with the Australian Medical Council since 1996. After moving to The Gap to live, the opportunity came in 1999 to work at Alderley Clinic. He is married with two daughters and a granddaughter, three chickens, two guinea pigs and a guppy.
