I have been in Australia for over a quarter of a centuary and a Grange Road doctor since 1991 (does that make me a local yet?). I was born in South Africa and grew up in Zimbabwe (Rhodesia). My husband and I emigrated to Australia looking for a better future for our family - and found it in Ipswich. I am passionate about excellent primary health care and so I am involved in local medical politics and medical education to do my 'bit' to continually improve local health care. Outside the walls of Grange Road, I am first and foremost a mum; I have 2 fantastic grown-up kids who are true Aussies. If there is any time left over in the day, I also love to draw and paint and play classical guitar.

  • Dr Jason Dawson

Doctor at Grange Road Medical Services

My name is Jason Dawson. A refugee from NZ in 1980, I moved to the Sunshine Coast with my family. After working as a medical laboratory scientist I obtained my medical degree at UQ via a RAAF scholarship. I spent ten years with the RAAF and was deployed overseas to the Middle East twice. Through a posting to the Amberley Base I grew to love the Ipswich area, so settled down here after discharging from the Air Force. My hobbies include bushwalking, fishing and mucking around with canoes and kayaks. Although growing up on the coast I get horribly seasick so prefer the calmer waters of our local dams and creeks (also the reason I didn't join the Navy). Professionally, I have interests in Sports Medicine, Men's and Veterans Health and Family Planning.

  • Dr Lisa Moreton

Doctor at Grange Road Medical Services

My name is Dr. Lisa Moreton, or Mrs. Lisa Kirton, or Mum, or 'Hey you'. I have worked at Grange Road since 2000 and have lived locally since 2006. My husband Scott works here too and we have two children, Hamish and Matilda and two beagles named Bowie and Buffy. I was originally born in Inglewood, the only true Queenslander in my family and grew up in Rockhampton before moving to Brisbane for University and subsequent hospital time. Scott and I both passed our exams to specialize in General Practice in 1997, and Grange Road is a great place to work and endeavor to provide comprehensive primary care to our patients. I love the continuity of general practice, looking after people in the context of their families and their community. For fun, I like reading (psychological thrillers, horror, science fiction and fantasy) cooking (decadent desserts especially) and quilting (many more unfinished projects than finished).

  • Dr Scott Kirton

Doctor at Grange Road Medical Services

Scott Kirton was raised in Dapto, NSW. He grew up almost within view (and definately within smell) of Lake Illawarra, and spent an idyllic childhood sailing and cycling the countryside. He got badly sunburnt every summer on the beautiful beaches of Wollongong. Scott moved north to Brisbane with his family in 1984 where he attended Aspley State High, and the University of Queensland where he met his wife Lisa. They have two children, Hamish and Matilda, and two puppies. Scott joined GRMS in 1996 and gradually came to realise that Ipswich is far better than Brisbane, so he moved here. Favourite books: The Lord of the Rings, Snow Crash (nerd alert!) Favourite movies: Trainspotting, the Hunger Favourite song: Golden Brown (The Stranglers) Favourite pastimes: Cycling, photography, holidaying with family Goals: To have a glorious man cave, full of bikes and a beer fridge

  • Dr Tu Huynh

Doctor at Grange Road Medical Services

I was born in Vietnam, delivered by my great-aunt (who was a mid-wife) in Saigon. We then escaped when I was 3 from Vietnam by boat and came to Australia as refugees in 1979. I have lived in Brisbane most of my life. Went to Brisbane State High School and started medicine in 1993. Graduated in 1998 and spent 4 years at Ipswich General, before going on to do a Masters, then doing some medical student teaching, some Emergency medicine, some ICU jobs, some Eye jobs, before deciding on General Practice. I have an interest in acute medicine, paedatric medicine, eye problems, skin cancer and minor surgical procedures, men's health and travel medicine. I have a lovely supportive wife and two adorable primary school-aged daughters. I was here a couple of years ago and have returned to Grange Road in the hope of adding my expertise to the great mix of knowledge and experience we have here.
