Nick obtained his medical degree from Griffith University in 2012 after first completing a BA at UQ. He completed his Internship and physician training at The Prince Charles Hospital. Subsequently he started Cardiology Training at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s and The Prince Charles Hospitals with rotations to the Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast University Hospitals. He obtained his Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of Physicians in 2020, and then undertook a fellowship in Heart Failure and Cardiac Transplant at TPCH in 2021. Since 2022 he has been working as a consultant as part of the Heart Failure and Cardiac Transplant Team at TPCH. He also participates in the Indigenous Cardiology Outreach Program (ICOP) delivering specialist care to regional and remote indigenous communities. Nick has presented at local, interstate and international conferences and is currently undertaking further research in acute heart failure management. He is a Lecturer with UQ and takes regular student tutorial groups as part of internal medicine teaching. He has also completed a Masters Degree in Public Health to complement his Cardiology training. He is a member of the Cardiac Society of Australia and NZ (CSANZ) and the European Society of Cardiology (ESC). Nick’s interests are in general cardiology, preventative and metabolic cardiology, heart failure and advanced heart failure management with an emphasis on high value and efficient interventions.

After graduating from the University of Melbourne, he undertook his physician training at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and subsequent cardiology training at Monash Health. He subspecialised in Cardiac Pacing and Electrophysiology with a Fellowship at The Alfred and Monash Hospitals. Thereafter, he completed an overseas Fellowship at the Royal Jubilee Hospital, British Columbia, Canada where he trained with leaders in the field of cardiac pacing and arrhythmia. Ojas brings with him novel approaches and procedural techniques to manage cardiac rhythm disorders. For implantable cardiac devices (ICD), he performs conduction system pacing, offers cardiac resynchronisation therapy (CRT), and implants leadless and subcutaneous devices in addition to conventional pacemakers or defibrillators. For cardiac ablation, he treats complex atrial and ventricular arrhythmias. He also performs venous alcohol ablation, a relatively new technique, to treat challenging cases of atrial fibrillation and premature ventricular complexes. Ojas strives to provide evidence-based care that is tailored to your personal circumstance and wishes.
