Dr Emma Ivens is a cardiologist with a particular clinical interest in stress, transthoracic and transoesophageal echocardiography. After graduating from Monash University with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery with honours in 1997, Emma went on to complete her specialist cardiology training at the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne. Pursuing her interest in echocardiography, Emma undertook a post-graduate echocardiography fellowship at the Prince Charles Hospital in Brisbane, before travelling to Canada to carry out a further fellowship in advanced echocardiography at St Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver. Outside of her clinical practice, Emma is also actively involved in research and has published work on hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and complex aortic pathologies, as well as pericardial and valvular heart disease. She also shares her extensive experience with the future generation of cardiologists and is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Queensland.

Nick obtained his medical degree from Griffith University in 2012 after first completing a BA at UQ. He completed his Internship and physician training at The Prince Charles Hospital. Subsequently he started Cardiology Training at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s and The Prince Charles Hospitals with rotations to the Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast University Hospitals. He obtained his Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of Physicians in 2020, and then undertook a fellowship in Heart Failure and Cardiac Transplant at TPCH in 2021. Since 2022 he has been working as a consultant as part of the Heart Failure and Cardiac Transplant Team at TPCH. He also participates in the Indigenous Cardiology Outreach Program (ICOP) delivering specialist care to regional and remote indigenous communities. Nick has presented at local, interstate and international conferences and is currently undertaking further research in acute heart failure management. He is a Lecturer with UQ and takes regular student tutorial groups as part of internal medicine teaching. He has also completed a Masters Degree in Public Health to complement his Cardiology training. He is a member of the Cardiac Society of Australia and NZ (CSANZ) and the European Society of Cardiology (ESC). Nick’s interests are in general cardiology, preventative and metabolic cardiology, heart failure and advanced heart failure management with an emphasis on high value and efficient interventions.

Dr Stephen Tomlinson is a general cardiologist with advanced training in echocardiography. He is an expert in non-invasive evaluation of chest pain, breathlessness, arrhythmia, and valvular heart disease. Dr Tomlinson graduated from Bond University in 2011 with the Vice Chancellor’s award for academic excellence. He achieved Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians in Adult Cardiology in 2019 after appointments at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital and Prince Charles Hospital. He performed a two-year echocardiography fellowship at The Prince Charles Hospital before undertaking further subspecialty training in valvular and structural heart disease at the world-renowned Columbia Structural Heart and Valve Centre at New-York Presbyterian Hospital. Dr Tomlinson has completed a Master’s degree in medical research in which he pioneered novel techniques for non-invasive assessment of heart failure. He has published multiple peer-reviewed papers and regularly lectures at local and international conferences. Dr Tomlinson is a dedicated clinician who is at the forefront of his field and is a passionate advocate for his patients care.

Dr Arul Baradi is an Interventional Cardiologist with appointments at the Alfred, Epworth Richmond, and St Vincent’s Private Hospitals. He consults at Victoria Heart in Melbourne and several locations regionally. Arul’s clinical interests are the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of coronary and structural heart disease. Arul has recently returned from the United Kingdom after completing a two-year fellowship in complex coronary intervention at the Royal Papworth Hospital (affiliated with the University of Cambridge and the United Kingdom’s leading cardiac specialty hospital) and a one-year fellowship in adult structural cardiac intervention at the Royal Sussex County Hospital under Professor David Hildick-Smith (current president of the British Cardiac Intervention Society). Prior to this, he completed medical school at the University of Auckland, New Zealand, and following internship and junior doctor years in Auckland moved to Melbourne where he completed physician and cardiology specialty training. Arul maintains an active role in research and teaching. He is a research fellow at the Cardiovascular Epidemiology Unit, the University of Cambridge, and a doctoral researcher at the University of Melbourne.

Dr Ojas Mehta is a highly trained consultant cardiologist and electrophysiologist. After graduating from the University of Melbourne, he undertook his physician training at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and subsequent cardiology training at Monash Health. He subspecialised in Cardiac Pacing and Electrophysiology with a Fellowship at The Alfred and Monash Hospitals. Thereafter, he completed an overseas Fellowship at the Royal Jubilee Hospital, British Columbia, Canada where he trained with leaders in the field of cardiac pacing and arrhythmia. Ojas brings with him novel approaches and procedural techniques to manage cardiac rhythm disorders. For implantable cardiac devices (ICD), he performs conduction system pacing, offers cardiac resynchronisation therapy (CRT), and implants leadless and subcutaneous devices in addition to conventional pacemakers or defibrillators. For cardiac ablation, he treats complex atrial and ventricular arrhythmias. He also performs venous alcohol ablation, a relatively new technique, to treat challenging cases of atrial fibrillation and premature ventricular complexes. Ojas strives to provide evidence-based care that is tailored to your personal circumstance and wishes.
