My name is Karin Cook. I am a mum of 2 teenagers first and, secondly I'm a local of 25 years.
Practicing Dental Therapy for over 27 years, essentially working with very young, and special needs patients, created a passion for me to learn more about human behaviours. I used to treat primary school patients without their parents present, so obviously I had to build trust quickly and showing compassion I was popular among students and the communities I've worked in. To date I am treating the next generation of the patients I treated since I graduated in 1989. I know I don't look that old right?!
I have extended my skills to include removing dental fears and phobias through Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) to name one way to remove barriers to experiencing dental treatment. Parents often pass their fears about visiting the dentist onto their children and they also believe dental decay is a genetic condition. I have made it a priority that my patients enjoy being empowered and always in control of their experience and oral health moving forward.
