We have a strong passion for Behavioural Optometry and the practice has its own Vision Therapy Clinic led by qualified and experienced Vision Therapists.
Mark graduated in 1981 in Johannesburg, South Africa and came to Australia in 1987.
Mark is a Behavioural Optometrist, who is passionate about his work. His Optometric interests include learning difficulties, information processing, vision therapy, holistic optometry, clinical photography and imaging, and eye disease. Although he has been involved in Optometry for more than 35 years, he is still surprised how much he learns from every child he meets.
He is in private practice with a special interest in Behavioural Optometry and strengths in children’s vision and vision training.
Mark completed his British registration and diagnostic drug qualification in London, while gaining experience at the London Refraction Hospital. His post graduate education includes Ocular Therapy, Ophthalmic Imaging Masters units at UNSW, numerous courses run by the Australia College of Behavioural Optometry, the Optometric Association of Australia and the Optometric Extension Program (USA), Iridology at Nature Care College.
Mark is a past vice-president of SPELD NSW (Specific learning disabilities organization).
Paola received her Doctor of Optometry degree from the SUNY College of Optometry in New York, USA in 2011. She has practiced in various Optometry settings including nursing homes, private practices, and outpatient hospitals performing comprehensive eye exams to patients of all age groups. She was awarded the Dr. Louis Herrmann Memorial Award for Outstanding Compassion in Patient Care during her clinical rotations.
Her extensive training and practice includes the diagnosis and management of binocular and refractive conditions, vision therapy, strabismus, amblyopia, pediatric ocular diseases, Glaucoma, Diabetes and Retinal vascular diseases, hereditary retinal conditions, neuro-
ophthalmology cases, and low vision. She has extensive training and practice in prescribing and managing contact lenses as well as ocular diseases with heavy emphasis in prescribing topical medications to lower intraocular pressure in early and advanced glaucoma, conjunctivitis, iritis, and herpes keratitis. Paola also took part in training fourth year students on their last rotation in New York.
Paola was heavily involved with New York public schools working alongside with educational psychologists, occupational therapist and speech pathologists. She volunteered at the Special Olympics performing vision screenings for athletes with and without intellectual disabilities. She also volunteered at Diabetes Exposition performing diabetes eye screenings.
Paola was born in Colombia and relocated to New York at the age of fifteen where she completed her high school, college, and university courses. She relocated to Australia in 2016 and she has passed all exams and qualifications granting her the right to practice as an optometrist in Australia. including the right to manage cases with therapeutic agents.
Paola loves the outdoors and enjoys working out and staying healthy. She loves to swim as it reminds her of her competitive swimming career growing up Colombia. She loves to travel and getting to know new countries, people, and cultures.
