Stephen joined Somerville Merrin Neilson as an Optometrist in 2005 after graduating from Queensland University of Technology with First Class Honours. He completed his Graduate Certificate in Ocular Therapeutics in 2008. As well as providing general eye care to the Toowoomba community, he also has interests in ocular disease management, nursing home eye examinations, and orthokeratology.
Prescribing over-night orthokeratology lenses allows patients with myopia (short-sightedness) to see clearly during the day without having to wear glasses. He traveled to Uganda in 2011 on a short-term mission trip to provide eye care in a remote medical clinic. Outside work he enjoys walking, playing the viola, volunteering with his wife on the church coffee team, and raising his young family.
