Born and raised in Perth, Alex moved to Adelaide to start his optometry degree at Flinders. Through this, he enjoyed learning all that optometry has to offer - from being a part of a research team looking into myopia control, to clinical placements in Perth and Queensland - all while working part time as a swimming teacher and competitive swimming coach. The combination of problem solving, health and interactions with patients to best suit their requirements is what Alex enjoys most about the role as an optometrist. He then moved back to Perth to work at his local independent optometrist who he went to see when he was growing up. During these three years, he built a great foundation of real-world optometry practice, especially the importance of patient care the influence that has on outcomes. He took special interest in learning about rigid contact lens fittings, for both regular and irregular corneas, and understanding the nuances of finding the best lens option for the patient. Now back in Adelaide, Alex is excited to bring his skills and experience to Adelaide Eye Care and looks forward to supporting his patients with thoughtful, personalised eye care. When Alex isn’t in the consulting room, he can be found swimming at the beach, grabbing a coffee from the local coffee shop, or playing a social game of golf with his mates.
