  • Theresa Slaten is a therapeutically endorsed optometrist with over 25 years of experience both in private optometry practices and in hospital clinics. During the 10 years she was working in ophthalmology clinic in the hospital, she provided complex Contact Lens fittings, Glaucoma co-management, Low Vision and Children's vision assessments. She also worked in a refractive surgery clinic which gave her exposure in identifying various corneal conditions. Theresa is passionate about charity work, and typically spends 2 weeks every year, providing eye care in remote clinics. Through this exposure, she has good knowledge of Diabetes and Ocular pathologies. She also became a volunteer classifier for New Zealand Paralympic athletes who have visual impairments. Theresa has a holistic approach to eye care and likes to think outside the box when finding solutions to patient’s visual problems. Having worked in New Zealand for 20 years, she is now back in Australia, where she gained her optometry qualifications (University of NSW). Hobart has a particular draw card because of the connection to Antarctica, where she had acquired an interest in atmospheric science.
