After spending over 3 years working in regional Victoria (East Gippsland), Melanie gained value experience and exposure to many of the pathology aspects of Optometry before returning to Melbourne 2005. Since establishing Vision One Eyecare in 2006, Melanie has gone on to establish a special interest in Children’s Vision focused on overcoming learning delays and difficulties with children. Melanie is also a board member of the Australian College of Behavioural Optometry (ACBO). Melanie has undertaken further education with both ACBO as well as the American Optometric Extension Program (OEP) some of which concentrates on the provision of vision therapy for visual dysfunction, strabismus and amblyopia, learning delays and autism spectrum disorder. Melanie has also completed her post-graduate certificate in Ocular Therapeutics, which allows for the provision of certain prescription only medications for eye conditions. Melanie graduated from University of Melbourne with 1st class honours.

It was an interest in children’s vision that initially sparked Melissa’s desire to study optometry. Melissa spent the first 8 years of her career in general private practice, completed a Graduate Diploma in Advanced Clinical Optometry and gained expertise and experience in a range of areas including children’s eye care, contact lens fitting and post-surgery co-management with ophthalmologists. More recently, Melissa has spent 11 years as an associate at a practice established to provide quality eye care for children of all ages. Melissa is well versed in caring for children referred by nurses, teachers and other optometrists for management of their eye sight or eye alignment conditions and vision related learning difficulties. This includes the provision of spectacles, contact lenses and vision therapy. Melissa is enthusiastic and passionate about providing quality vision care to individuals of all ages.

Jarn joined Vision One Eyecare in May 2016 and has been working as an Optometrist for almost four years. As a father of a two year old, Jarn particularly enjoys working with children. Jarn is also qualified with Ocular Therapeutics, allowing him to provide certain prescription only medications for eye conditions.

After graduating with honours from The University of Melbourne Michelle has gained a wide range of clinical experience with several independent practices. Her professional interests include contact lens fitting, childrens vision and preventative eye care. After many years as a Senior Optometrist with OPSM, Michelle joined Vision One Eyecare in 2014. Michelle has a special interest in paediatric and behavioural optometry and has completed further education with ACBO and the American Optometric Extension Program. She is passionate about ensuring children have the best possible vision for learning and experienced in managing strabismus, amblyopia, vision related learning problems and myopia control. Michelle enjoys providing quality vision care to people of all ages.

Prior to establishing Vision One Eyecare, Tim gained valued experience working as an Optometrist and also in a management capacity of various practices throughout Victoria with one of the country’s largest Optometry networks. Tim completed a Bachelor of Science with honours and a Bachelor of Optometry from University of Melbourne. Tim has also completed his post-graduate certificate in Ocular Therapeutics which allows for the provision of certain prescription only medications for eye conditions. Tim also represents the broader industry through his position as a board member of Optometry Victoria.

Joe came to Vision One Eyecare in 2014. After working in east Gippsland as a graduate optometrist, he consulted at Carrum Downs and Langwarrin while completing a masters by research. Joe subsequently worked as a senior clinical teaching instructor at the University of Melbourne, where he refined his teaching, research and clinical skills before joining the Mornington team in 2022. Joe holds a keen interest in the diagnosis and management of ocular disease. He has extensive co-management experience with ophthalmologists in both public and private settings, and he welcomes the challenging and rewarding opportunities of shared patient care with other health professionals.
