Dr Andrew Nguyen

Andrew completed a Doctor of Optometry from the University of Melbourne which included an internship at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He has a strong interest in paediatric optometry, myopia control and specialty contact lenses. Having suffered from undiagnosed binocular vision problems which weren’t picked up until he began studying optometry, Andrew has developed strong interests in this area as he is able to both understand and empathise with his patients. He believes that no child should be disadvantaged at school. Having worked with some of the top paediatric optometrists and optometry practices in Western Australia, he has experience in helping children and adults with neurodiversity and learning difficulties. He really enjoys the challenge of working through individual problems as no two patients are alike. In addition to practicing at Vision Care Eye Centre, you will also find him at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital’s Ophthalmology Outpatient Clinic. He has previously worked in private ophthalmology clinics and taught as a clinical supervisor for the Doctor of Optometry program at the University of Western Australia. Ge has also worked in regional and metropolitan optometry practices across Australia, which has given him a diverse breadth of clinical experience. Andrew is also a strong advocate of optometry within the community and has previously served as a Board member of Optometry Western Australia and Treasurer of Optometry Western Australia (OWA) Board for 6 years and a committee member for the Early Careers Optometrists Western Australia (ECOWA) for 7 years, and a committee member for the Optometry Advisory Board for the School of Allied Health at the University of Western Australia. He is also an active member of the Australiasian College of Behavioural Optometrists (ACBO) and the Orthokeratology Society of Oceania (OSO). Andrew has intermediate proficiency in Vietnamese.
