About Us
Shay Zayontz is a Victorian and Harvard trained Orthopaedic Surgeon who specialises in hip and knee surgery. He is a Fellow of both the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and the Australian Orthopaedic Association. He completed his medical degree at Monash University in 1990 and underwent Basic Surgical Training at The Alfred Hospital and successfully completed his orthopaedic fellowship in 1999.
In 2000, he was accepted for a subspecialty Hip and Knee Replacement Fellowship at Harvard University Medical School, Boston. During this time, he published multiple research papers on knee kinematics and function of knee replacements; his research team published some crucial concepts relating to knee flexion that was critical in the development of high flexion knee designs. He trained under and worked with some of the leading knee and hip surgeons in the world at Massachusetts General Hospital and The Brigham and Women's Hospital.
On his return to Melbourne, he has settled into private practice at Cabrini Health, both in Brighton and Malvern, as well as maintaining a public appointment at Sandringham and District Memorial Hospital.
Outside of work, he is committed to his 4 children - he enjoys watching their music. He coached his sons' junior football teams. He is also studying piano and enjoys music.
