Debbie earned an honours degree in optometry from the Queensland University of Technology in 1991. For over 30 years, she has committed her professional life to supporting the Narrabri community as an optometrist.
Debbie enjoys the broad scope of rural practice and the unique challenges it brings. She studied Ocular Therapeutics and is qualified to prescribe medications to treat eye infections and inflammation, remove foreign bodies from the eye and co-manage glaucoma patients with ophthalmologists. In 2020, she completed the Advanced Certificate in Children’s Vision with a distinction through the Australian College of Optometry.
Debbie feels personal satisfaction in interacting with and finding solutions for her patients. She has discovered that combining treatments with continual professional education is an effective way to improve the level of care she can provide.
Debbie has spent most of her life in the Narrabri community, having been born and raised here and returning after completing her university studies. She’s also volunteered aboard the “Island Mercy” medical ship, where she provided eye care to isolated Vanuatu villages. She enjoys being a part of the community and having the opportunity to raise her family here.
