Dr David Bolzonello

Dr Bolzonello is a Sport & Exercise Medicine Physician who has been part of the Alphington Sports Medicine team since 1991 and boasts over 30 years clinical experience. Dr Bolzonello has a special interest in groin/hip, knee, shoulder and spinal disorders and adolescent health. He also has a strong interest in work place injuries and assisting in the development of return to work programs for injured workers. Dr Bolzonello is a former Senior Club Doctor with the Melbourne Football Club and the Calder Cannons under 18's TAC Cup team, where he is also a life member. He started his Sports Medicine career at the Carlton Football Club in the early eighties. He has a strong background in both Australian Rules football and tennis. Previously having worked with the Carlton, Western Bulldogs and Sydney Football Clubs. With tennis, he was a Medical Officer, and subsequently Medical Director for the Australian Open (1988 - 2001). During the 2006 Commonwealth Games, he worked at the "polyclinic" in the athlete's village. He has recently been assisting Melbourne's new A-League team, Western United Football Club, in its development and will be their senior Medical Consultant in their inaugural year. He is a Consultant to Worksafe Victoria and its agents working as a Medical Advisor, assisting the claims officers manage claims. He also provides independent advice to a range of self-insured employers. Dr Bolzonello is a past President of the Victorian branch of Sports Medicine Australia (SMA) and the immediate past Chair of Training of the Australasian College of Sport and Exercise Physicians. He remains a member of the Training Committee of the College supervising registrars (doctors in specialist training) and is also on other College advisory committees. He is an occasional editor for the Medical Journal of Australia.
